Reason #1: Its escapist cinema. We all know life isn’t easy. Everyone has problems. My maid has husband problem. My driver’s wife has run away. The neighbour’s wife is always screaming at her kids or servants. Beckham is worried that Posh is too thin. TOO THIN? I’d kill to be too thin. Why, Shilpa Shetty has problems. Who doesn’t have problems? Solution: Go see a mindless escapist movie like Partner.
Reason #2: Mind blowing chemistry between Salman and Govinda. We love hot bod, bad man Salman. And of course the simpleton Govinda. Smart uptown Bandra meets smalltown simpleton Virar. In this day of zero chemisty between the lead pair – Abhishek-Preity, Abhishek-Ash, etc, do we need some chemistry between anyone. We love the chalk and cheese combo. And love the one-liners.
Reason #3: Hot bod Salman. Guy is simply ageless. Fifteen years ago, or was it twenty, came a 55 Kg weakling on the screen and you wanted to kick him into standing straight. Boy, has he changed and how! Keep it up, we love you. What the heck, this man must be having fans spanning 3 generations!
Reason #4: Doesn’t need any Thinking. Why would someone still play Solitaire? Or for that matter why would Tetris still be popular after some 50 years? You get my point. One does need something which don’t require any mind.
Reason #5: Great hummable Music. Hey, keep in mind great music never did anything to Jhoom.. But it sure helped this movie go a long way.
